味咸而苦。在暖空气中稍有风化,100℃时失去结晶3分子水,130-140℃失去全部水分,220℃开始分解。能溶于水,几乎不溶于醇,水溶液对石蕊呈碱性,pH值为7∽8.配制斐林氏溶液,掩蔽剂,尿酸和糖的定量,还原剂测定,血清蛋白生化检验。用于医药;试剂,制镜工业作还原剂,在电讯器材中用以制晶体喇叭或晶体话筒。
