3′-Azido-3′-deoxythymidine is an inhibitor of HIV-1 RT (HIV-1 reverse transcriptase) that blocks the incorporation of nucleotides into growing DNA strands. Useful for antiviral and anticancer studies. 3′-Azido-3′-deoxythymidine enters CNS by diffusion and causes irreversible telomere shortening.
